RV Trip Day 3: Indiana Dunes State Park to Sparta, WI

Countdown to cross-country biking: 22 days

Another great day in the books. We drove to Sparta, WI and stayed in a Harvest Hosts. I can’t say enough about this place. It was so peaceful and beautiful, and the owners had a good sense of humor! Given our good experience, I’m looking at options for our trip back across the country.

After driving for five hours, I really needed to get out and stretch my legs, so once we got to the camping spot, I jumped on my bike to ride the Elroy-Sparta rail-to-trail. I learned that it was the very first rail-to-trail in the country, and it’s still beautiful with bridges, tunnels, marshes, and plenty of tree cover.

These are long days of driving, and I’m finding that I’m very tired after both driving and riding. Looking forward to some down time when we get to the Badlands National Park in a few days.
