Riding: 67 Miles
Our third day on the Katy Trail and another great ride. It rained overnight again, but still the surface of the trail was in good shape.
However, we did encounter a couple downed trees.
It’s been interesting to me to see all the farming on our route. We’ve seen so many silos for grain, corn, etc. I think the fact that our route tends to run along the railroad (or former railroad) is part of it.
Along with small towns and trailheads, we also saw some art installations along the trail.
A word of advice for anyone riding the Katy Trail in September. Bring food and water. We’ve had a difficult time finding restaurants that are open. It looks like a few coffee shops are seasonal, but even those are few and far between. We were lucky to come across this restaurant about 40 miles into our 67 mile ride today. Just in time for lunch.
We ended the day in St. Charles, a town in an incredible historic downtown. We’re looking forward to spending our rest day here.
