Biking: 55 miles
Today we wrapped up our three-day adventure on the Cowboy Trail. It was another windy day, this time 20 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph. We’re so grateful to be off the road and on the trail. It was difficult riding with that wind, even on the trail today.
You might remember that we met another rider, Steve, a few days ago and rode with him from Merriman to Valentine. He didn’t take a rest day with us in Valentine, so he’s about a day or so ahead of us now, and he’s been keeping us updated on the state of the trail and on his experience on the road. We learned from him that today’s ride had two detours, and the signs are small and easy to miss (he missed one of them).
Thanks to Steve, we didn’t miss the detours, but that did mean riding on the road for a bit. We don’t mind the road, but the wind started to really speed up toward the end of the detour. We were glad to be back on the trail after that.

The Cowboy Trail ends in Norfolk, NE.

We were sad to be finished, but that just means we’re riding to another great trail, Wabash Trail, and then the Katy Trail. So, more to come.
