Biking: 68 miles
Good morning! This is what greeted us this morning. The Grand Tetons.

We started out a bit before 8 am, but due to a miscommunication about the meet up point, we were delayed, finally leaving around 9 am. But, who complains about spending an extra hour in the Grand Teton National Park?
After the climbs yesterday, we were moving more slowly today, so we were glad for the first 20 miles of relatively flat terrain. Then the climbs began, up and over the Togwotee Pass, about 15 miles of climbing with an elevation gain of around 2500. All total, we climbed just over 4000 feet (despite what my RWGPS says…my Wahoo isn’t doing a great job with elevation) in 68 miles.

At the top of our climb, we crossed the continental divide. I was wondering why I was feeling a little lightheaded. Elevation of 9800 feet, yep, that will do it.

Without a doubt, the best part of the ride was the fast downhill after the continental divide. A lovely 30 miles downhill and into our destination town, Dubois, WY.

I didn’t take any videos today because I forgot to charge my Oakley Meta glasses last night. Bummer. That also meant Anita and Mark had to hear my music playing from my phone (instead of listening through my glasses) during the climbs. Can’t climb 15 miles without some kind of motivation.
About 10 miles from our destination, my brakes started squeaking. Seems the rear brake is dragging. And, then the bike started taking another strange sound, something I’ve never heard before. Unfortunately, no bike shops in Dubois, but there’s one about 20 minutes from tomorrow’s stop. I cleaned the bike tonight, and I’m hoping some of the issues are a result of the dirt it’s picked up. We’ll see what happens tomorrow, and regardless, I’ll take it to the shop on Friday.
We’re spending tonight in Dubois and then riding to Riverton tomorrow for a rest day on Friday. Tomorrow’s route is mostly downhill, but the weather prediction says a headwind. Fingers crossed that changes before tomorrow.
RWGPS for today
