While Brian and I were in State College, Anita and Mark continued on the route to Henry’s Lake. They took a rest day in Dillon, and stopped by a bike shop to ask about the route from Dillon to Ennis. This was the leg of the trip that I rode on July 23, and it was not safe – so many trucks passing at 70 mph with no shoulder on the side of the road.
The route they found was a beautiful gravel road, their favorite so far.
On Day 23 they rode from Ennis into an incredibly strong headwind, so they were glad to be off the road after that.
Brian and I had an eventful return trip to Missoula. We drove to Pittsburgh for the flight to Missoula, with a connection in Denver. Unfortunately, a storm delayed our flight out of Pittsburgh, and we landed in Denver too late to catch the connection. Luckily, the airline booked us on a flight the next morning at 7:40 am, so we were in Missoula on Day 23 by 9:45 am. We picked up the RV from the KOA, picked up the dog from the kennel, got groceries from Walmart, and we were on our way to Henry’s Lake to meet up with Anita and Mark.
The gang is back together, and we’re heading to Ashton, ID tomorrow.
